How PDF signature verification works

A digital signature locks the exact bytes of a PDF with the signer’s private key. This tool recomputes the document hash, verifies it against the signature using the signer’s certificate, then follows the certificate chain to a root you trust. Certificates from CCA India authorities can be added so DSC and Aadhaar eSign documents show as trusted.

How do I verify a digital signature in a PDF?

Upload the signed PDF. The tool checks the document has not changed since signing, that the signature is mathematically valid, and that the signer certificate chains to a trusted root.

Why does it say the signer is not trusted?

The signature is intact, but the issuing authority is not in the trust list. Add that authority’s root certificate (.cer, .crt or .pem) or press the Trust button, the same as adding a trusted certificate in Foxit or Adobe Reader.

Does it work for DSC and Aadhaar eSign PDFs?

Yes, for RSA-based signatures, provided the relevant CCA India root certificate is in the trust list.

Is my PDF uploaded anywhere?

No. Verification runs entirely in your browser.
